This page documents my artistic and personal growth through four self-portraits created across different periods of my life. Together, the pieces act almost like visual journal entries, capturing not only changes in technical ability but shifts in identity, emotion, artistic influence, and medium. The first self-portrait, created traditionally with a pen in 2022, is mostly monochromatic with selective red accents on my bandana and shirt. The restrained use of color reflects an early interest in emotional contrast and symbolism even within simpler materials. The second portrait, also from 2022, marks one of my earliest attempts at digital painting while learning the medium. In it, I am casually drinking a Mountain Dew, an intentionally ordinary detail that grounds the image in personal memory and youth culture while documenting my first experiments with digital rendering and lighting. The third piece, created in 2024, shifts stylistically into a loose impressionistic painted sketch depicting myself alongside two close friends. Heavy shadow and visible brushwork dominate the image, prioritizing atmosphere and emotional presence over realism. It captures a fleeting memory more than a precise likeness. The final portrait is a zoomed-in section from my Psalm 34:18 painting, representing a more mature stage of my artistic process and storytelling. Compared to the earlier works, it demonstrates a stronger understanding of lighting, texture, symbolism, and emotional narrative. Viewed together, these portraits reveal not only the evolution of technical skill, but also the gradual merging of faith, memory, relationships, and personal introspection into my artwork over time.
